Emil Nolde Stormy Sea

Emil Nolde was a German painter, printmaker, and watercolorist. He was first trained as a woodcarver, and later studied painting and developed style involving intense color. Nolde explored typical Expressionist themes of urban nightlife, but had a more abiding devotion to biblical scenes and nothern landscapes.
He produced 525 prints, almost all before 1926, mostly unpublished etchings and woodcuts in black and white.
Nolde's paiting Stormy Sea is a watercolor painting from 1930. I like this painting because of the use of bold colors that evoke emotion in the viewer. I also think this painting is someone melancholic and captivating by the use of intense blues and deep oranges.
