End of the Number by Pablo Picasso, 1900-1901. Pastel on Canvas. This portrait was done during Picasso's blue period, when he depicted scenes and portraits of the poor, sad and hopeless people of Paris. This picture stood out to me because of the monochromatic palate, and the stature of the woman. Typically when I think of Picasso's work, I picture only the images of distorted faces, so it's nice to see an actual portrait in which the subject is recognizable.
