Little Dancer Fourteen Years Old by Edgar Degas

I chose Little Dancer Fourteen Years Old by Edgar Degas.  The statue was created in 1881 and casted in bronze in 1920.  The medium is bronze with tulle skirt.  The sculpture is 38 ¼ inches high.  It is located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  I believe there is a bigger version of this statue in the Orsay in Paris.  One of the reasons I chose this piece is because I like that the skirt is made out of real tulle.  I also picked this piece because she is a ballerina and I took ballet for several years.  I think Degas does a good job portraying her body and facial expression while stretching her arms and shoulders.
