Shining Black is an oil on canvas painting done in 1958 by Sam Francis. When looking threw my book i came across this picture and it really stood out to me. This is a very simple but beautiful piece of art, I really enjoy the colors that were used. When reading about this painting I found out that Sam Francis adopted this form of art, pouring paint onto a canvas, from Jackson Pollock. Sam Francis gave the painting his own look by painting in different shapes.
