The Rope Dancer is an oil on Canvas done by Man Ray in 1916. This painting is inspired by a tightrope act that Man Ray saw, originally his idea was to use paper to cut out the shapes but he became unhappy with his composition and the abstract pattern on the floor of the discarded scraps is what inspired this work. I enjoy the blocks of color in this work of art as well as the contrast.
