This painting is called The Convict and was made by George Grosz in 1920. It is watercolor, ink, pencil and cut-and-pasted paper on paper. I chose this painting because after reading about it I found it to be very interesting. It is actually a duel portrait of George Grosz himself and his good friend John Heartfield after being drafted into the military. The picture of the building in the background is a cut out piece from a post card that was posted onto his painting to resemble a window. I liked how he made the mans face green as opposed to a normal skin tone. When I first looked at this painting the man resembled the cartoon Shrek to me.
